I just want to hug this Leah from 5 years ago so hard. 🥺 I recorded this after I received my first ever intentionally mean comment. Want the tea? ☕️ Five years ago I started posting reels on my photography instagram account (I’ve been a photographer for 14 years and did that full time before I was able to turn what I do here into part of my income 🥰) and I posted a reel about how I was going to start a “30 reels in 30 days” challenge. The first comment I received on my first reel said “should do a 1 run a day challenge” and it BROKE ME. I was shattered. I recorded these videos because I thought I was going to share about this experience in my stories. I didn’t. I was too scared. I had gotten so used to never calling attention to my weight and pretending like it wasn’t a thing. I didn’t want to risk lowering that wall I’d built up. Seeing these now, I can’t even believe how much has changed in 5 years. I literally talked about how I don’t understand how creators can endure mean comments on a regular basis and then it became my life. 😂 But I also didn’t know about all the kind, encouraging and life-giving comments that could come alongside the harsh ones. Those ones make everything worth it. And if I have the chance to help even one person change their life, I’ll take the risk of being criticized. I want you to watch this video and realize how much you can actually change in 5 years! And I don’t just mean physically, even though I did lose over 200lbs since I recorded this. I mean mentally and emotionally. I’m so much stronger and resilient in those areas. And I’m more vulnerable, which is a strength of its own, to where I actually do share these hard moments with hundreds of thousands of people instead of just recording them and then being too scared to share. Gosh, I’m so freaking proud of me and my growth. 🥹 I want you to feel this way about yourself too! And to know it’s truly possible for you! 🥰
