Would you recommend people who are afraid of trying things out if the box for a kaiseki dinner? Last thing I want to do is be rude by saying I can’t eat something if I don’t like it. I will always try, but sometimes I just can’t stomach and that makes me nervous.

The JR East Tohoku Pass used to be worth it but they just redid their pass structure and it's not very good anymore

The JR Pass is worth it if you actually use it. I got the 21 day pass and still saved $300 USD. It is not worth it if you are a basic traveler who only goes between Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka
