THREADS IN THE BREASTS? HELL. NO. The breast is not an area I’d be willing to gamble with for a temporary/FAKE “lift.” Here’s why: 🔹 There is no good evidence that threads create a meaningful breast lift. Breasts are heavy. PDO threads simply aren’t designed to support that amount of tissue short or long term. 🔹 The “lift” is temporary AT BEST. Even if you see an immediate improvement, gravity always wins. The threads dissolve, and the breast tissue continues to descend. 🔹 You can create scar tissue. Any foreign material placed through breast tissue has the potential to create fibrosis and scar formation, which can complicate future evaluations or procedures. 🔹 It can interfere with breast imaging. Scar tissue and post-procedure changes can make mammograms, ultrasounds, or MRIs more challenging to interpret and may require additional workup. 🔹 There’s a risk of infection. Unlike the face, treating an infection in breast tissue is not something to take lightly. Infections can become serious and may ultimately require surgical intervention. 🔹 Threads can become palpable or visible. Breast skin is often thin, especially in patients with volume loss. Patients may feel or even see the threads beneath the skin. 🔹 It doesn’t address the actual problem. Most breast sagging is caused by stretched skin, elongated ligaments, loss of upper pole volume, pregnancy, weight fluctuations, and aging. Threads fix NONE of those. 🔹 You’re taking on risk without a predictable reward. Whenever we perform an elective cosmetic procedure, the benefit should clearly outweigh the risks. In this case, that’s very difficult to justify. If your goal is truly to lift the breasts, there is still only one gold standard: surgery. Could threads produce a subtle, short-lived change in carefully selected patients? Maybe. Would I ever recommend them for breast lifting? Absolutely not. #pdothreads
