I remember buying my wife’s engagement ring in 2005, I spoke to the jewellers about what I thought would look nice and he made the ring, and it cost me £700 at the time. My wife has never asked how much it cost, she just fell in love with it from the money she saw it. It’s now 2 decades later and I don’t think she has took it off since the day I proposed.

I carved the ring I proposed with out of a branch from the tree we first met under with my pocket knife and smoothed it down with my own hands and sand from that same place. 14 years later she still refuses to let me replace it. If the $$ matters to her, she shouldnt matter to you.

The ring I proposed to my wife was $1000, I was just starting my career and she was finishing college. For our 20th anniversary we upgraded her ring and she traded that original ring in to help offset the cost of the new ring (they actually gave us more than the $1000 I paid). Later she said she wish she would have kept that original ring because it meant more to her and represented all we haave been thru. We'll be celebtating 28 years this Sept.

I'd be happy with a fake engagement ring, look at how pretty they make them now days. I've been married for 30 years, my original set wasn't expensive but I love it. It's not about the rings it about the marriage. 🥰
