I had breast implants for 27 YEARS… and it took my mom being diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer for me to start asking questions I wish I had asked decades ago. Her diagnosis sent me down a rabbit hole of research—not only about breast health, but about what I had chosen to put inside my own body. And I learned things I genuinely didn’t know. Breast implants aren’t lifetime devices. Silicone implants can rupture without obvious symptoms. And some women experience a collection of systemic symptoms commonly referred to as Breast Implant Illness (BII). The more I learned, the more I knew my implants no longer aligned with the way I wanted to live or care for my body. So after 27 years and two sets, I took them out. This isn’t about telling another woman what to do. No judgment. No shame. Keep them. Remove them. That decision belongs to you. But I believe you deserve to know what I didn’t. Over this series, I’m sharing the research that ultimately changed my decision—and the things I believe every woman with breast implants should know. And one important part of my story: I wasn’t experiencing BII symptoms and I didn’t have a known rupture. I chose explant because of what I learned and what felt right for my body. 🤍 Follow along for this series. Save this post + share it with a woman who has breast implants. The more we know, the more informed our choices can be. PART 1 🤍 My Explant Journey #Breastlmplantillness #BIlAwareness #RootCauseHealing #ExplantJourney #BreastImplants
