Mine believed me but he stopped me because he didn’t want to hear. But if hearing it is hard; imagine experiencing it

My fave is when a woman shares her experience and the response is “you just think that because women are filling your head with lies on the internet.” Like we aren’t even reliable narrators of our own existence.

Me and a man watched the same documentary, the documentary explicitly stated the scenario was r*pe yet he somehow refused to see it for what it was and only saw her as a cheater. I got tf away from that man.

It’s so weird because I’m a woman who has received relatively little sexual harassment in my life. But I always believe women who talk about it. It’s not hard to believe people about their own experiences.

I’ve only been cat called a few times since I’ve turned 18. But I couldn’t walk outside as a 13 year old without a man saying something to me.

I normally make content that only women my age comment on. I’ve had thousands of comments with really no issue. I made one post a few days ago talking about when men narrow their focus to just what a woman can do for themselves actually, they stopped seeing them as a human being. When I tell you, the comments were absolutely vile. It was exhausting having conversations with these men. I’m going back to my regularly scheduled content. LOL

They don’t believe women, period. I once said my fav character from the MCU is Captain America + why. A guy replied “you just like him cuz he’s hot” (appearance was never mentioned in my “whys”). Then there’s being called a “liar” whenever I said i prefer short guys in dating. The fact men has consistently insisted they knew more than the women in something as harmless as a favorite character of all things…well it kinda shows how of course they won’t believe any SAs.

I remember having a 15yr old friend who this 21yr old had a crush on. Hearing him talk about his feelings towards her always weirded me out. You could tell he knew better but was rationalizing it with how “mature” she seemed. This is just one of the MANY instances I personally witnessed or was a part of as a minor that I could refer to. Not to mention my experiences as an “adult”. If they don’t want to believe us it’s willful ignorance at this point.

Not-so-fun fact: Freud’s original field of study discovered one of the biggest problems women had was trying to get over the CSA they experienced as children, and tried to present it to his (male) peers. They laughed him out of the room and later his sister disclosed her own sa experience at the hands of their father. Freud couldn’t handle the idea that his dad was a pdf, or that his male peers didn’t believe him. So he changed his whole take and instead said that all little girls fantasize marrying /sleeping with their fathers and were lying about being SA’d as children (and all of the trauma they experienced in the decades that followed). He literally came up with the Oedipal complex bc women of that time weren’t believed

I dint think they don’t believe it - they just don’t care and don’t feel anything for us and they dint put themselves in your shoes- they imagine themselves as the man that hurt you

it's not that they don't believe you. they don't want to admit their behavior is what you are talking about, and is harmful.

First and foremost I will never claim to understand the generalized woman’s lived experience. I simply can not grasp the full picture, I don’t think any man can. I can relate to many similar life experiences. I will never understand why people can not just be present in that moment, hold space for them, no judgement. Those simple things do so much for that individual in that moment. Do better, be better, imagine that was your mom, sister, loved one.

I watched a short film years ago about this. 3 guys questioned their 1 female friends experience. 5 women showed up and agreed with her and one lady gave a VERY SPECIFIC instance that made one of the guys have a breakdown because she described what happened to him but he had never realized it was sa against him. Of course the men then started to soften on their stance of course

Men tend to doubt and disbelieve because, to them, it’s not offensive behavior. If they imagine a woman doing it to them they would welcome it, so they tell themselves it’s okay. That we’re just being sensitive.
