If you've been struggling to sleep and haven't been able to, it's simply because you can't. You can't order your brain to sleep... This is assuming you don't have an underlying medical condition. So, fill your time with something until your brain decides it's time to sleep. Listen to a boring podcast, etc.
And the most powerful thing: if you miss a night of sleep, don't wire your subconscious into thinking you have a problem, because it will just release even more cortisol and make it even harder to fall asleep. If you wake up in the middle of the night and have a hard time falling back asleep, or can't sleep at all, it takes about two hours for your body to process and burn through that adrenaline and cortisol.
So stay calm, settle in, and listen to something soothing—like history or stories... Through all of this, you must not worry... That is how you signal to your subconscious that you are not in danger... Let life flow... Healing will come, but only when you stop waiting for it. Accept where you are, and you will overcome this. And healing... takes time.

I dont know about the eye thing, but yeah forgetting your body position is true, i’ve been sleeping like this for awhile and you sleep hella good. I mean you cant forget that, the real phrase i’d use is, just lay on bed without thinking how to sleep/in what positiob, just let your mind and body do its own thing. Trust me
