Baby Boy was fighting for his life at the Riverside shelter while battling Valley Fever. In the middle of all the noise, stress, and uncertainty, one shelter staff member made sure he was never alone in his kennel while she worked. She loved him deeply and called him “Baby Boy” because to her, he truly was her baby boy. If she could have taken him home herself, she would have. When our friend shared his urgent video, we knew we couldn’t leave him behind. Now his journey toward healing begins. 🤍 Baby Boy is young, loving, and only about 35 pounds. You can already see some weakness and limpness in one of his legs, which can happen with Valley Fever when the infection begins affecting the bones or joints. We are getting him reevaluated and making sure he continues the medication he needs so he has the best possible chance at a healthy future. Valley Fever is a fungal infection caused by spores found in soil, especially in areas like California and Arizona. Dogs become infected when they inhale the spores. Some dogs experience mild symptoms, while others develop serious illness that can spread through the body. Symptoms can include: • Limping or swollen joints • Coughing or difficulty breathing • Weight loss • Fever • Fatigue • Loss of appetite • Bone involvement and pain Treatment can take months and sometimes even years depending on how severe the infection becomes. But dogs can still live happy, beautiful lives with proper care and treatment. Baby Boy now has a long-term foster committed to helping nurse him back to health, and we are so grateful he finally has a safe place to land. 🐾 If you would like to donate toward Baby Boy’s medical care or honor your pledges, you can donate here: Venmo: @legacyoflove805 PayPal: alyssa@legacyoflove805.com Zelle: nick@legacyoflove805.com Apply to foster or adopt at Legacy of Love 805.org #LegacyOfLove805 #ValleyFeverAwareness #RescueDog #DogRescue #AdoptDontShop
