Gentoo isn't even hard. It's literally just long (mostly why I just use binaries at the beginning, then switch to source when in the actual system). Literally most of LFS is just compiling, and barely configuring the system. Crux also isn't that hard, it's actually literally comparable to Arch but you do have to compile the kernel and whatnot.
