The whole group home thing is wild, to be thought of as an option. I say it half joking and half on my really hard days myself. As a parent that’s a hard decision because we can barely keep them safe in our home, and out in the community. Also if we make the decision to put them in a home it’s a hard decision and I hope none of us have to make that decision.

As a youth counselor working in mental health group home, popcorn is the very bottom of the lists when it comes to the behaviors we service. Cam is fine where he is!

Case Manager here. it is not that easy to get into a group home and the available placement are not as available as people think. The length of the wait-list is very long in many states. FYI you can get kicked out of a group home. Mom does amazing with taking care of Cam

I think most people cannot even fathom the level of severity a child has to be at for group home to be the best option. In my opinion, in some situations it definitely is the right choice. I work with many children who live in group homes. Like you said, its not for some popcorn throwing🙄

They should have made him clean it up. They hate that 😂😂😂😂 I had a client that would act a fool then I made his butt clean it up he would be angry but wouldn’t make a mess when I was at work because he knew he was cleaning it up. 😂😅🤣

Group homes are for individuals and families who need extra support. All group homes aren’t behavior based. Some don’t even take individuals with behavior. Group homes aren’t scary spaces

we could tell he was acting out bc you left. MOST kids do the same. Folks stay ready to throw our boy away and this is why our boys need extra protection. Ppl dont see them as the kids they are

Group homes are not just to correct behavioral issues. It's also when parents can no longer care for there children. If you can keep your kids home do so as long as possible. I work with individuals who have behavioral issues 26 yrs and counting. This mom has things in control. I like the way she parents her child. 👏🏾👏🏾🫶🏾
