any theoretical future missile attack would come not from long range balistic missiles launced from far away but from fleets of small robotic submarines released underwater from seemingly innocent civilan cargo ships or large fishing vessels, thus allowing those UUV's to glide underwater undetected right up the coast of continental US and launch from within LA or SF harbor area, for example, or anywhere along both tje east and west coast, masking the identity of the attacker and ensuring maximum chances of hitting their targets. That would be the logical way of conducting an attack on any country which has ocean access.
