IT PISSES ME OFF HOW THIS IS REAL LIFE. Doctors and surgeons and specialists who are LEGENDS in their work come to America and their credentials aren’t valid here so they have to work in the lowest and work their way up. Go to school ALL over again. Meanwhile they’re wasting time in classes hearing things they already know, patients are suffering and dying bc we have good doctors getting their time wasted on American credentials. When my mother came to America from Portugal in 1959 her nursing degree didn’t transfer. In Portugal she was a nurse, in America she was considered illiterate and uneducated.

I worked with a CNA at a nursing home in her country. She was registered nurse. If she came to me with a concern, you bet your sweet bottom I got up and I was in whatever room she told me to go to.

We actually have a few cases like that in our hospital. I know a Filipino who used to be a lawyer in the Philippines and is now a NP. As well as a nurse who used to be a doctor in the Philippines. I'm also a familiar with someone who used to be a doctor and lost his practice and became a nurse. You just never know sometimes 🥰
