@realisticrecruiting: Hey, recruiters and hiring managers, if nobody has told you that these job interview questions are pointless and you should stop asking them allow me to do that. You don’t work for the FBI, you’re not specially, trained, in personality peofiling, you should just be seeing if this job is a good mutual fit for you and the candidate. #careeradvice #recruiting #jobinterviewquestions
Thank you! These questions they ask put you in a position to try to figure out the ‘right’ answers. I don’t like to lie, but I know they don’t want the answers I’ll truthfully give. ‘Why don’t want this job?’ Respectfully? I’m qualified, and I need a job cuz I have to pay bills…. But they don’t want to hear that!!

Mike, you are exactly the kind of HR I am. I train managers and tell them to stop asking these dumbass and manipulative questions. Why are we manipulating our candidates? It automatically gives a toxic environment right there.

What should someone say when they ask these? Because believe it or not the first one gets me every time.

AI should handle all technical screens at this point. It’s incredibly difficult for a non-technical recruiter to gauge what makes someone a good fit.

You wanna see how potential employees would be at team playing and problem solving? Group interview, split them into teams, give each team a bag of marshmallows and a box or two of toothpicks and tell them to build the tallest tower they can...🤣Best boss i ever had did this...they switched people around at a few points to mix up the teams...it was the funnest and most relaxed interview I ever had

I agree with all except the first. Typically you want to ask about themselves as an ice breaker question to get both sides comfortable with the questioning. Kind of a softball question.

My job asked me to start doing technical interviews, so I made sure to structure it in a way that its more like I'm seeing if two devs can talk shop. The reason is anyone can spit out technical terms or leet code at me (Especially with AI) but.. if you can carry on a full professional style conversation with me about a subject then I know you understand what your doing.

Manhole covers are round because circles are the only shape that cannot fall in on themselves. I am most likely going to be interviewing with a company that I have been working for as a contractor for 3 1/2 years so I actually have well informed answers for things like why would I want to work there, what are my salary expectations, and other stuff along those lines.
