im slavic and also post soviet, and i dont get the nicknames either. i dont think anyone understands, we just go with it 😂 i once asked my mother about this and she also said she has no idea, its just the way it is wtf 😂

Im Mexican and in every Mexican family your nickname has to do with your physical appearance, for example if your skinny=flaca/flaco if your on the chunky side=gordo/gorda if your light skinned=guerra/guerro, dark skinned=morena/moreno like if you have big cheeks or a big nose that becomes your nickname etc. I think it’s so funny 😂
