Everyone needs to understand that your Social Security is based on earnings over a 35 year period. Low income = low pymt. High income = higher payment. No one can live decently off of Social Security only. You have to have some other supplemental income, whether it be pension, 401(k), IRA, etc..

Do we understand now why so many boomers can’t give away their homes? Can’t sell them for under market value? Because a whole lot of them thought social security was going to take care of them… and now they’re living on $1200 a month.

You know what’s gonna suck even more. You still have to pay taxes on social security. And when you turn 65 they automatically deduct Medicare which is like 230 a month. So your $1,200 just got reduced to like $800 a month. Let that sink in

Working seven more years increases that bottom line number. Your last seven years of earnings replaces earnings from the 80s and 90s.

My friend. This tells me you have a VERY good account and was able to write off A LOT of expenses. While that is good for taxes, most don't realize it lowers your SS. Also, the pension system you mentioned also explained it.

It’s too late. Zero money and not a home owner. And too old to work hard now. I started working 20 hrs a week, under the table, when I was 9 cuz my family didn’t have money, started working officially at 15, full time at 16 (paying taxes etc) I’m 60 now and what will happen to me 🤷🏼♀️

Don’t take at 62, you will get robbed. You can’t try to live. $1848 is a helluva lot more than $1299. I’m waiting till 70. $2100 is above average. You can’t take at 62. It’s crazy to me
