@twisted_clay: Learning to throw off the hump is a challenge but, with a project like Yunomi, it becomes a little more fun. I am such a huge fan of Japanese Yunomi and while I am not an expert on this form, I have spent quite a bit of time learning about it and can’t wait to teach my students in the Twisted Clay Online membership how to throw these forms off the hump. Throwing off the hump is an efficient way for potters to make a large number of pots in a fraction of the time. This technique is believed to have been started by Chinese and Korean potters over a thousand years ago, but since then many cultures have adopted this throwing technique. If you would like to get better at this skill, I hope you will join me in this class that begins on July 30th. We will start with throwing Yunomi on the wheel head to get comfortable throwing this form and then when we are back at the wheel, we will move up to throwing this form off the hump. This class is going to be packed and I can’t wait to get started! #pottery #ceramics #potteryteacher #potterylesson #potterytutorial
