@_desertx: POV: The Coachella Valley used to be underwater... 🌊🌅 Before it was called the Coachella Valley, early Spanish settlers named it Conchilla, meaning "little shell," after discovering fossilized marine life more than 100 miles from the ocean. For Desert X 2019, Danish collective SUPERFLEX imagined what happens if history repeats itself. ‘Dive-In’ reimagined the desert as a future underwater landscape, creating a space designed for both humans and marine life in a changing climate. Its iconic pink hues drew inspiration from Palm Springs modernism, the Annenbergs' color palette, and vibrant coral reefs, transforming the installation into a gathering place for outdoor films and conversations about our changing world.
