@veronicaporlier: I’m still open to get any more tips! I really was wanting this printer to work for me. I am going to try out the Epson paper today to see how much of a difference that makes and if I like the paper. At the end of the day, my Canon Pixma prints much more detailed and closer to the correct colors which matters more to me. When it comes to cost - the ink *is* cheaper overall probably but I would rather outsource than pay for an $800 printer that I don’t really like that much. Idk…any tips? 🙃 #epsonecotank #stickershop #epsonprinter #mailclub
Update: I returned it lol gonna try the canon megatank

I’m the complete opposite. I have the canon pixma and can’t get a good print unless I change the settings (and still not near as good as the Epson) and it takes way longer than the Epson 8550 to print. The prints on the canon have been terrible 😭 ! I get such amazing prints with the Epson! I gave the canon a fair shot but now just use it for notebook pages!

I’ve had both and canon is much better in my opinion. I don’t get the epson hype.

I’m no printer expert either but I don’t have time to mess with setting. I want to print and go. For that price and efficiency would be a no for me too

I love my canon pixma mega tank bc the colors are incredible. It was only $300.. the only downside is that it is kind of slow and doesn’t print larger than letter size But I have not been impressed with what I’ve seen and heard with epson. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to leave canon!

As someone who used to work in printing, I always sold this to people who printed lots in colour eg reports, pamphlets as it’s so much more cost effective thank inkjet, but I wouldn’t recommend it for art. For quality prints, wide format is just always going to be #1. Any printer will require you to mess with the settings though, it’s just about how much you want to put into it.

When I got my Ecotank I was really disappointed by the print quality. I changed tons of settings, printed from Photoshop and not, drivers, etc. Then I read online that it might be the paper, so I tried a bunch of different papers and… it prints like a dream on the right paper. So it is a bit picky.

As someone who loves their ecotank, you do have to tweak it a little bit to get the results you want! When people were telling you to use premium presentation matte, they meant the setting not the actual paper. that is the highest quality setting. Secondly you just want to adjust the settings in the actual print menu behind the advanced button and tweak it until it gives you the colors you want. it wasn't hard for me at all, it only took maybe an hour maximum between adjustments and test prints to get the colors perfect!

I fell in love with my 8550. maybe because I am newer to the "print club". I had a small Canon and had so many issues. got my 8550 when it went on sale in February and love my purchase. it seems to last a little longer in ink but not by much but found the quality was better than my Canon. I did fine tune a few settings but type of paper makes a huge difference too

THANK YOU! I was starting to gaslight myself for a long time that I need to get the Epson printer and abandon my canon, who I've had for over 6 years now and it works so well.
I also thought it was crazy that all the alterations and extra steps for the Epson have become normal? i don't mind working out what works best for me, but if I spend so much money, I shouldn't have to work for it that much 👀

i have the cheaper version ($300?) of this printer and have good prints but i messed with my settings A LOT to get it to look like the originals. i use cheap cardstock and cheap sticker paper too! lol , a lot of my settings are set to the highest quality on my PC to get them to print, but i know it's different per printer- per pc

I have the lower model and love love love it. It exceeds expectations. I wonder why the better model isn’t performing as well…🥲

I hate mine. Bright reds are awful. And the roller wheel dents!!! Ruined so much paper. Canon is the way to go.

Once I installed the drivers to my computer, set up my prints on Epson layout app, it’s been great! Definitely not a plug-in play printer.

Download the driver if you haven’t already. Turn off bidirectional printing if you need the highest possible precision, sharper lines, and reduced banding for high-quality graphics. I got mine for $200 off when Office Depot had their recycle program turning in my old printer.

I have a Epson 15000 , 2800, and a 24” Epson printer I will say though if you do not have your print drivers, download it from Epson. It won’t give you the best print output put. Although you do have to adjust your settings per whatever you’re printing. That’s normal. It may be an inconvenience sometimes but that’s the best way to get the Best output. When you print on high quality it slows the printer down to give better print quality. I’ve had my small Epson 2800 for probably like five years and I’ve only refill it. Maybe three times and I print daily multiple times a day.
