people need to understand that you gotta get over the hump of ugliness....not all training is stress free, and thats okay!

he's going to have to be on kennel rest to get neutered so the peopke complaining literally want him to bleed out and tearing his stitches instead of learning to kennel?

as someone who only uses ff methods for MY DOG (he shuts down very easily), this video didn’t bother me at all. sometimes my dog wont take food or treats no matter how hard i try and we’re just lucky that his training isn’t extremely important for his/other’s wellbeing. you did a great job

I think it’s really important that you’re showing what’s going into getting him rehabbed. It’s not pretty, it’s not fun, we don’t love to see him struggle, we can all admit that. However, behavioural problems require discomfort to work through. Mostly on our behalf. He’s already come such a long way, and I imagine him being neutered will also make a big difference to his behaviour, but this is what it takes. Thank you again and again for not giving up on him. I cannot wait to see him running with the four wheeler and the other dogs.

Sometimes this is what we have to do for both our safety and the dog’s safety! I just recently had to do this with a Pyrenees/Anatolian shepherd mix that weighed almost as much as me. It wasn’t pretty, but we did it, and he’s an angel in his crate now!

I commend you for posting this because of the keyboard warriors but this very much is the reality of working with dogs in rescue and ones who have had minimal handling or behavioral issues. Majority of the time the dogs are their own worst enemy with their own mental blocks and it may take some tough love to get them over the mental hurdles and realize things really aren’t that bad. Something I have found helpful when working dogs who have crate issues is using a Ruffland that has front/back doors and teaching the dog to go through initially and then add doors from there. Obviously for dogs who may try and break out an extra door adds less security but you can get the different latches from Ruffland to make the doors sturdier.

He already looks more relaxed away from the kennel environment.

You are amazing! As a volunteer at Rescue Shelter, I understand all the work it takes to rehab a dog so they can live a successful life instead of being euthanized., I love all the training you are doing with Maverick, you are amazing!

I know this is ridiculous but if he will climb into your lap, get into the kennel and invite him in.

Thank you for normalizing pushing dogs through stressful situations! Knowing when and how to push a dog through a situation they are unsure of is so important and the average person doesnt get that

It’s so sad. These dogs should not be bred for anything other than work. No regular person should be able to own a working breed like this. People seriously don’t understand that not only do these dogs need a job, they are a job.

Honestly I’m more angry at the people who bred and abandoned him. It’s not his fault he’s the way he is. You’ve done so well with his progress.

My malinois suddenly decided the crate is a NO. I literally have to toss in hot dogs or pulled pork to get him in. Jerks.

You did a fantastic job. You only used necessary force and he obviously picked up what you were asking of him. The ruffland will be a great safe space for him to decompress

Looks great to me! I’ve missed a few updates, so I’m glad to catch up. This looks like perfectly normal dog training to me lol. Based on what I’ve seen in all of your videos, you don’t have any reason to apologize for your methods. Considering where he was and where he’s at now, this is a miracle!
