@natashamontreal514: Is the Kirpan meant to be concealed? Breakdown on Canadian legal guidelines, the Supreme Court Multani ruling, and why carrying multiple exposed blades online isn't matching up with religious standards. 📜⚔️ Are social media trends distorting religious accommodation laws? 🇨🇦 Under the Supreme Court of Canada’s Multani ruling, wearing a kirpan comes with specific safety conditions: -the kirpan remain concealed -the kirpan stitched into a sheath - wear must be tied to sincere religious practice and standards for the 5 Ks (Kesh, Kangha, Kara, Kachera, and Kirpan). Daniel Freiheit (Founder of Lion Advocacy) and Natasha Graham (reporter from NatashaMontreal ) break down the legal framework behind religious sincerity tests, contrasting true religious practice with recent viral videos of influencers open carrying multiple exposed blades in public spaces like gyms.

I grew up in Singapore, a multicultural society. My Sikh friends didn’t have this option as it’s classed as a weapon. Didn’t affect their quality of life? No.

Very very few Sikhs wear kirpans in the UK/USA. I understand the concern but some balance please.

Thank you for talking about the actual law. Most people seem to skip over it and say it’s allowed. I also couldn’t help think that in the video in question he was aiming for a confrontation like the freedom auditors in the US.

That is not a kirpan. It is a hunting knife. It is not curved, he did this for the attention he knew it would bring.
