@richmanparadise: This billionaire shut the parliament down instantly. Kerry Packer was one of Australia's most influential businessmen, building a media empire through publishing, television, and entertainment. Known for his sharp wit and fearless personality, he became one of the country's most powerful figures before passing away in 2005. During a famous 1991 parliamentary hearing, Packer was questioned about tax minimization and whether wealthy individuals were paying their fair share. Rather than backing down, he responded that he was simply using the tax laws as they were written. He argued that minimizing taxes legally was common sense and that anyone who chose to pay more tax than required needed their head examined. What made the exchange memorable was how directly he challenged the premise of the questioning. Packer pointed out that governments themselves create the tax rules and that individuals and businesses naturally operate within those rules to protect their interests. The broader lesson is not about avoiding taxes illegally. It is about understanding the rules, making informed financial decisions, and using every legal opportunity available to keep more of what you earn. Financial knowledge is often just as important as financial success itself. Media: economicsthemovie (YT) Follow for more content like this. #billionaire #economy #ceo #taxes #entrepreneur

The issue with his standpoint is if everyone did that…no money will fund our public infrastructure, police, hospitals and schools. That’s the part anyone who makes this argument doesn’t want to admit…they want to benefit without paying the real cost.

Where the government spends there money, the rich are on the receiving end of that money, look at any government, where there money goes and you’ll realise that it always ends up in the hands of the rich, this guy will probably also benefit off where the government is forced to spend its money and at the same time he will say you don’t spend it well, so you all clap and cheer as the super rich keep hoarding all the wealth and leave everyone poorer each year, billionaires need to be taxed at an enormous rate, nobody in there right mind could ever possibly need more than 50 million pound

“You’re not spending it that well that we should be donating extra” Now there’s food for thought on most government spending.

Years later he would be paying zero tax. Greatest embarrassment that the everyday Australian supported this guy. Pay your tax give back to the lucky country.
