It’s always felt to me like Lucy became someone who made Erza feel comfortable expressing her feminine, softer, and natural side. Like her other closest people were Gray and Natsu so it’s likely she always had to appear tougher, stricter, boyish. Especially in earlier episodes it’s a stark difference in how she interacts alone with Lucy. Conversely, I think Erza helped Lucy drop that “fragile”, doesn’t wanna get her hands dirty mindset she had at the start. She was raised rich so probably wasn’t used to needing to take charge in things. From their first interactions Lucy looked up to Erza as a badass woman and I genuinely think she aspired to be more like that. She can be feminine, but also be strong and powerful. They learn from and compliment each other in such a balancing and healing way for both of them and it’s so beautiful! People are always discussing relationships and friendships in this show but for some reason these two get forgotten when it’s one of the most authentic friendships in the show.

Rewatching the early episodes of fairy tail is so fun cause the way their baby brother brings home this random girl and grey and Erza decide they love her so friggin fast. They’re bro she’s too good for you if you ever hurt your disowned and she’s our baby sister now. Erza lets Lucy get away with so much early on. it’s so sweet she loves that girl like off the bat. Natsu like hey can this girl join our team Erza. And Erza is like girl? Say less. 😂😂😂😂

Mind you Erza had major trust issues after her childhood. She barely opened up to anyone in the guild in forever yet, she still took Lucy under her wing and didn’t doubt to protect her. Even Gray as well. Man they became a family so fast and I don’t care if they win with the power of friendship it really shows how powerful love can be in all aspects.

omg I remember when I first started watching this anime and they introduced erza, I was so ready for there to be so many miscommunication tropes and stuff since that’s all I saw in others animes and books (like the childhood friend not liking the new girl) but I was so happy when there was nothing of that sort. Erza just immediately liked her and treated her like she was no different from her childhood friends and the way Lucy admired and respected her. That’s how I knew this anime was gonna be amazing!! 😭🤍🤍
