In most states mailboxes on the side of the road must be on a breakaway post 😂

A buddy of mine had his taken out by a snow plow 4 or 5 times. He complained to the county about it because he thought the driver was doing it on purpose and they blew him off. He sunk a 12" I-beam 6' in the ground and concreted it in and then put wood around it. Had the post office come out and certify that it was good and had it documented. The next time the plow came through it totaled the truck! They tried to sue him for the damages but he had documentation that the mailbox was legal. They never hit it again.

if that mail box hurts someone or worse kills someone you will be liable for it all a mail box post is ment to break so that dont happen

it would snap right off. it's got to be 6 in behind the curb line not 6 in over the curb. 6 to 8 in that's the federal standard and law

I have a confession never in My life have I ever done this, never but my friend in highschool Carl well 30 years ago I watched him smash many of them on South side river road in Aztec, ya I just couldn't do that, I was the one with the assault rifles and Mail boxes weren't a issue

anything near road is supposed to be breakaway. some lawyer is going to like you a lot when a car slides of the road and hits it and someone dies.
