@blackpeopleunitenow: Colonialism does not end simply because the foreign flag comes down. Frantz Fanon understood that the deepest damage of colonialism happens inside the mind. A colonial system does not only occupy land. It teaches the colonized to question their own history. Their own culture. Their own intelligence. Their own ability to govern themselves. Eventually the oppressed can begin seeing themselves through the eyes of the people who oppressed them. That is when colonialism becomes psychological. You can remove the colonial government and still keep colonial thinking. You can gain independence and still measure your people by European standards. You can control your own country and still believe everything foreign is superior to everything your ancestors created. That is why Fanon’s message remains powerful today. Real liberation requires more than political independence. It requires people to rediscover who they were before someone else taught them who they were supposed to be. A revolution can change the government overnight. Decolonizing the mind can take generations. And until the mind is free the work of liberation is unfinished.
