me and my boyfriend have been long distance for years now (Egypt and the netherlands) and here's why it works for us, 1. we share the same hobbies, we both like playing games, watching movies/youtube. we play games with eachother ALOT we watch movies and honestly these seem like the type of date's we'd have irl anyways. 2. you need a solid plan or a count down to look forward to not just a "maybe i'll come see u next month", you need to be intentional and honest about your circumstances. 3. miscommunication will be ur biggest enemy, irl you can tell how a person is saying something through their tone, social queues and body language, online you CANT so you will have to get comfortable with speakint your mind asking for more context and giving more context. 4. my boyfriend has his card linked to a food app in my country he sends me food weekly or when im craving something he sends me it right away, and for his birthday i send him a package to his home. 5. we meet once a year in a new country for a few weeks so it's basically like a vacation :3 even if i see him once a year i have a blast. and honestly he's a great man he made LDR easy for both of us he never stops putting effort he sends me flowers, drawings on special occasions, he lets me play with his friends and connects me to his family and we sleep on call every night.

2-5 times a year for up to 4 weeks at a time is still very good tbh. last year i saw my husband once. this year already twice and i will again in december luckily. but it's definitely hard but worth it

i'm in a long distance thing and he doesn't really let me in emotionally and he doesn't want to make us official. he just wants to take it slow and he doesn't know if and when we will meet because he's struggling mentally. sometimes i question it and wonder if he even likes me but he says that he really cares for me and adores me and it's his first time in awhile letting someone this close to him romantically. i'm kind of confused and i'm telling myself that i just need to be patient with him

Yeah so I am in a ldr as a teacher and in the short breaks throughout the year I didn't have enough time/money to sponsor my 1400-1800€ trip. So I have had to wait for a year until this summer break. I am flying today and can't wait 🥰.

Leaving my ldr’s country next week<\3 we can only see each other one or two times a year cause we leave in different continents so when we are far away from each other again we chat everyday but that can feel very weird sometimes and you keep feeling like something is missing and connection dilutes, a weekly video chat date where you actually try to engage with each other is definitely a pilar otherwise it can feel like you are growing apart

thanks I feel like I got actually actionable advice I can put in practice :) me and my friend are trying to see if we mean more than friends to each other and we're long distance. but we don't have yet that emotional intimacy nor a physical one. I'm slowly trying to (holding hands when we meet, being more touchy) but I feel like every progress we make we then lose a bit of it between meets. and I've told them I'd like to be more intimate but ig it's hard for them to let someone in. they've been better with calling more often and putting more effort into seeing me but it's not consistent and at times very surface level. we text daily but never about something deep or anything so the time for that has been usually in person. I mean we know what's going on in each others lives, we talk about our day and plans but if that's the majority of it it starts to feel like I'm updating them just for the sake of it. I miss the curiosity about small things, the spontaneity. I guess what I want to ask is how to leave this place? being in LD but not having yet the intimacy, is anything other than what you said in the video that you'd say could help? or is it a lost cause? thanks :))
