Other than the pedantic hot water heater crap. you can use a pex tubing cut at end and hook up to wet/dry vac and suction out scale .

well I bought one of those but how do I get that attachment that goes on to my air hose? and I've never done this before and the water heater that I have is a gas water heater and it has a power vent at the top. this is my father's water heater both of my parents have passed away so I seen this and I had bought it but have not used it yet because I do not know how to and I'm afraid I'm going to do something wrong. I don't have that attachment that you have for the air hose and do I have to shut the gas off to the water heater and do I shut the water off to the water heater? or do I leave the water on so that way when you're flushing it it's filling up at the same time that way it helps get rid of some of the sediment? I almost said about hiring a plumber just to come show me how to do it so then I will know how to do it next time

So connect the attachment to heater, blow air in it, and then it flows out on water hose side correct? Or do we turn on hose bib that water hose is connected to, push water in, and still use air attachment? I’m a little confused

Yes, but you need an AirTag to push through the upper part of it if it is clogged because then the device is worthless, which means you have to go buy an air compressor
