Okay fuck legality for a second. What, exactly, do you think would happen in the ninety minutes following the handcuffs clicking shut? Donald seems to think Mamdani is a mildly entertaining nuisance at the moment, but attempting to arrest a co-conspirator of Net's caliber would paint a ridiculously large target on his back as a "rogue mayor," and for what? So that he could say he did it? You and I both know Net wouldn't make it from the squad car to the bars before the nearest three-letter federal agency assumed control of the situation by force if necessary. It's my personal opinion that Mamdani is absolutely prepared to die for the cause, but attempting an illegal arrest of this caliber would be a really shortsighted way to use the position he fought so hard for. I know, bro. I know, it would feel sooooo fucking good to watch Net's head get pushed down past a squad car door. But it was never a promise, and it was never going to happen. Mamdani is doing what he's doing to show others that The Establishment is no longer how we get shit done. At some point that'll reach far enough to flip the table.

Zohran I think when he made that promise had every intention to keep it, how ever legally, there isn’t much he can do, and even if he would arrest him, the likely hood of anything but a slap on the wrist for Benjamin is really small. I’m sorry the risk just isn’t worth it ,

I appreciate the anger and frustration about this I really really do. but what do you truly expect a mayor to do? If he was president that would be one thing but it’s another thing to expect a low ranking politician to have the pull or ability to do anything regarding international politics. please explain to me what he CAN do and isn’t doing about this? I remember his campaign he said he was going to try his best to get this done not that he would 100% be able to do it.

his promise was, and I quote "I will negotiate with the nypd to see if I can arrest war criminal Benjamin netanyahu." if he had the power to arrest Benjamin netanyahu he would.

I mean what he supposed to do violate US law and be forced to resign, he was gonna arrest a war criminal and seemed like he had grounds to stand on then was told he can’t, he said he was looking into how he could so what more can he do

i really don’t know what you expect or why you’re so angry about this. Is it really blindsiding you that the mayor of newyork doesn’t have the hard or soft power to make an arrest like that? It’s the fact that Mamdani was willing to take the conversation public that makes him such a valuable politician right now. Demand more from your politicians sure, but i didn’t see any other mayoral candidate even touch the idea of fulfilling the warrant, that conversation is the more we demanded that’s why he’s in office. More people are aware of the gaza genocide than ever before because of Mamdani, let the ball get rolling on the movement damn

From the Campaign to Today, every time ive seen Mamdani speak about Bibi, hes said two things. "He should be arrested" and "as mayor, if he comes to New York, we will explore every legal possibility"
what about that is a promise that he didnt keep?

You are over estimating the political might he has. The target that would get put on his back would be massive and the big yahoo wouldn’t even truly get arrested. It would different if it was a governor especially of a large state like California with more weight to throw around

if I was him I would start dropping politicians names forcing them to either align with them or not. Like "If [insert politician name] was The president they would like me arrest him" and he what they say about that.

I agree, right? but his failure to act didn't keep him quiet, instead he came to you guys for help. I feel he's playing the politics game, this is a call to new yorkers to ask for the enforcement of the law. also, is it not a "if I act I lose my position and that's a possibly bigger loss" sitch?

I understand and agree it is angering that netenyahu will not get arrested, but zohran can’t arrest him because he will then be arrested by federal authorities. and netenyahu will be free federal law enforcement overrides city law enforcement. his statement does help tho, because the more politicians stand with zohran, the closer we get to actually bringing netenyahu to justice.

in a world where most politicians are either sycophantic about Bibi or just silent. Speaking out in no uncertain terms against him and his crimes is a significant action.

I get your frustration. Especially you want politicians to keep promises that they stated. However, there was no way our government was going to allow him to arrest him. They’re already looking for reasons to get rid of them because he’s Muslim. The truth is the change that we wanna make is going to be a slow build. We have to use zohran almost as a Trojan horse. To ease people in to a new way of thinking. But I do think we need to put his feet to the fire to make sure he commits to his other promises.

Couldn't arresting Netenyahu illegally leaf to problems in the case charging him?
Not to mention Mamdani would most certainly lose his position as Mayor where he's actively helping the community and making the city better for everyone, maybe he could even get charged with treason by the government? Like what do you expect him to do? Throw his life away and throw NYC back to the rats nest just to have Netenyahu arrested for like a week then sent back home??
