I've seen two experiences of people that leave, the first one is what you describe, and the second one is that you still have family that reaches out but you are not allowed to talk about harmful experiences so the relationship is contingent on being silent and sweeping it under the rug. The latter is more what I experienced and I think that might be the more common experience of people that weren't in the heart of the community possibly. I don't really have enough data to support that hypothesis for sure, but it would make sense

Have any mothers been able to get out? I imagine once they’re married it’s almost impossible to escape and would only get even more impossible once they’re pregnant or had a baby. I know your best friend was pregnant when you left. Had you tried to get her to leave with you or you knew it wasn’t possible? It must be so difficult to leave people you love behind. You’re incredibly brave and strong for choosing yourself.
