I knew it from simbas reaction in the grafties to the clip of priya and aidan mentioning the finals that he caught on to their plan and was even taken aback by it. He even brought that clip up again when he and angie voted for priya and aidan as most fame hungry. He is seeing julia having a point which is also why he is backing her up on it. Simba really changed out of the boys and showed growth
