@madelineaford: Replying to @Molly my ferritin went from 6 to 180 and it changed my life!!! I feel like you can even see the difference between these videos, I feel so much less inflamed now that my cortisol is lower since my body isn’t fighting for its life 24/7. wanted to share my positive experience bc seeing a video like this would’ve really helped me feel less afraid.

From a fellow “allergic reaction health anxiety” human: we have OCD bestie. With love, do not get an Epi pen. It reinforces the OCD 🫠 I was able to do some iCBT and ERP therapy to help

I wish my experience went this smoothly. My doctor didn’t do it as a drip, he did it by hand in like a minute.. I know have a permanent stain on arm (it’s been a year) because the iron overflowed. 🙃

I feel so seen rn. Your description of health/allergy anxiety (despite having no allergies) sounds nearly identical to my experience. I've even had panic attacks at weddings, bday dinners, vacations about trying new food. Once I got evaluated, it actually ended up being OCD. that "constant checking my body" experience is a pretty key detail, and the "I would feel better if I had an epi pen" are exact words i have said too (unfortunately an epi pen would actually just reinforce the OCD). if you end up having OCD, there are really effective therapies out there like ERP. ❤️

Hey! Let’s talk to someone about OCD. I’ve had iron infusions. I have vasovagal level reaction to needles. But feeling better just having an epipen is not a normal line of thought. I think it would improve your life to have some tools to help with this, even if it isn’t medication.

so, so proud of you for advocating for yourself and getting the care you need ! also so glad that the process went better than you expected <3 as someone who works in health insurance, i am constantly ASTONISHED by the sheer amount of money for services, whether it be before or after insurance. there is definitely a HUGE issue with our health care systems on both the insurance is provider side. so so glad you have been so blessed to be able to cover your bill bc i can’t imagine dealing with a $900 surprise bill rn

my ferritin was 2.5 before my first successful infusion & it literally saved my life. i did in fact have an anaphylactic reaction to the first type of iron we tried - we had to request a special kind & it was $13,650 before insurance 😬 i react to that too but thankfully managed to keep it under control with benadryl and steroids (i have mcas for reference). thank god because i would’ve needed a blood transfusion otherwise. when my ferritin was that low i felt like i was dying. idk how i survived for so long. i’m glad yours helped you too!
