They see things the normal audience does not see. Multiple levels and layers, working in concert.

I’m a MFA film student and filmmaker, writer-director-editor. I can immediately pinpoint continuity issues which take me out of the universe when watching. Easily notice dialogue being ADR and/or off by even one frame. Within seconds can almost see the lighting set up for many shots. I can imagine what the timelines in post looked like. And as watching anything I dissect the whole thing the whole time. For about a year it was overwhelming but now it’s something I’m used to atp

I think it’s more interesting since you know the creative process behind making movies and stories. Every choice feels intentional and you appreciate the small things. If the story is good you don’t think so much about how they did it from a practical standpoint

As somebody who went to film school: 90% of the time it just feels like everyone else but I hate horror so I do dissect horror movies to help myself get through it without being scared.

As a director, watching films is even more interesting. Imagination goes crazy

They definetly suck to watch with always trying to explain stuff or say what they would’ve done different

lifetime movies make me laugh because of how ridiculous they are. like this one guy becomes an emt because his prom date died by a drunk driver, then he finds a different teen to take to prom again and shes like why are you doing this to me 😂.

Think about what you do for work and what the product of your work is. How do you feel about it? That’s how they feel

It’s still very entertaining but yes I can clock the mechanics. For example The Odyssey… the is a very specific shot of Robert Pattinson in the finale where I know exactly what he’s looking at and it’s not what an average viewer thinks he’s looking at… I also can be watching a film for the first time and I’ll think, “huh, it probably took them about x amount of days to shoot this small scene and here’s why…” and 9/10 I’m usually right. So yes, I can simply enjoy but I can also see all the things an average viewer isn’t noticing or thinking about.
