🚨Please pray for Flo and Penny Lane 🚨 As many of you know, we’ve been on a long journey with Flo. For months, we’ve been battling a severe hoof infection. Between the summer heat, trying to keep his foot dry, and fighting this stubborn infection, it has been an incredibly difficult road. Flo has already undergone one surgery, but today we had to make an incredibly hard decision. To save his life, we had to amputate one of his toes. Our hearts are absolutely breaking. Flo is one of the sweetest pigs you will ever meet. He adores people, loves giving kisses, and melts into every bit of affection. I’ve spent the day giving him kisses, and he gives them right back. He is just the sweetest soul. We rescued Flo during Hurricane Florence, which is how he got his name. At around 8½ years old, he’s considered a senior pig, but if you saw him, you’d never guess his age. He looks so much younger because we love him dearly and do everything we can to keep him healthy and comfortable. We’re now exploring the possibility of getting Flo a custom prosthetic boot to help him walk more comfortably. It won’t be inexpensive, but if it gives him more quality time with the family he loves, we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. This is especially hard because we recently lost his brother, Diesel. Those two adored each other, and losing him has been heartbreaking. These pigs become family. They love deeply, and they are loved just as deeply in return. Sadly, the way the industry bred them to grow so large often leaves them with devastating health problems later in life. Please also keep Penny Lane in your prayers. Penny Lane came to us from the recent hoarding case. She was one of the skinniest pigs any of us had ever seen, and we honestly weren’t sure she’d survive. But she fought her way back. She’s an elderly girl with an incredible spirit. Today she underwent her second surgery. She was supposed to be leaving soon for her wonderful new home in Florida, but those plans have been put on hold. We’ll be keeping her here until we’re confident she’s fully healed and won’t require another procedure. Since taking in the pigs from the hoarding case, we’ve performed nearly 90 surgeries. The medical costs have been overwhelming, and we’re still not finished. We are currently trying to pay off more than $4,000 in veterinary bills from just the last couple of weeks, and we know there will be more expenses ahead.
