I know sometimes people do not like to apply, but he is eligible for unemployment too if they are not able to place him. I think it is crazy that they won't pay him for the rest of the season at a base rate. The money is already budgeted for the season and it isn't his fault it burned down.

Set up a fire look out welfare fund so that all lookout workers can access it incase of losses like this or illness etc! Then it helps everyone
