Thanks for sharing this bit of history. For PNG Gov't and BCL to refuse the request for recognition of the new LO association comprising customary women landowners and their demand for compensation for environmental damages and social impacts on the local communities livelihood is very qruel and sad. It was very unfortunate that things turned out for the worst as history itself can attest to it. It was something that could have been avoided if the gov't could have listened and considered it's people's concerns and the mining operator listened to its most important stakeholder, the customary landowners' concerns.
