Mila Adams worked as a personal chef for NFL star Stefon Diggs when he played for the New England Patriots last year. She went to the Dedham Police Department headquarters on Dec. 16 and told an officer Diggs assaulted her on Dec. 2 in her bedroom at his home after a text message argument. Sara Silva of Silva, Kettlewell & Pignatelli LLP in Boston cross-examined Adams today (Monday, May 4), the first day of Diggs' strangulation and assault trial in Dedham District Court. She'll continue on Tuesday. Silva tried to discredit Adams' testimony that Diggs choked her with full strength by questioning her about his athleticism and job as a professional football player.

"He takes hits from 300-pound men, right, for his job, true?" Silva asked. "I guess," Adams answered. "Do you know that?" Silva asked. "No, I don't know what his role is. I thought he ran the ball. ... I'm not sure what he does," Adams answered. "How many games that Stefon Diggs has played in have you attended?" Silva asked. "I don't know football. I don't watch it to know what what. I've attended a couple games," Adams answered. "The question was, how many of Stefon Diggs' games have you gone to and watched?" Silva asked. "Gone to? Maybe four," Adams answered. "And you don't know that he gets tackled in that game?" "I don't really watch it honestly. I'm just there for the vibes. I don't really know what be going on in football. I don't know the rules," Adams answered. "I think you will agree with me, I think, that if Stefon Diggs used 10 out of 10 force on your neck — " Silva said as Adams interjected, "It was 10 for me, for my little body and what, I couldn't breathe. It was a 10 for me." The question was, estimate the level of pressure that the suspect used during strangulation," Siva said. "It felt a 10 to me. I could not breathe," Adams said. "So you chose to answer a different question than the one you were asked?" Silva asked. "This questionnaire is about me. Why wouldn't I answer it about me?" Adams testified. "But you will agree with me, hypothetically speaking, if Stefon Diggs used 10 out of 10 strength to choke someone, anyone, that person would have bruises on their neck?" Silva asked. "I would not agree," Adams answered. You can watch all of Adams' testimony on my YouTube channel. She will return to the witness stand tomorrow (Tuesday, May 5). #law #crime #nfl #court
