@TheWoodyShow @iHeartRadio I genuinely hope you both take the time to watch this. Disagreement is fair. Correcting misinformation is fair. Deliberately mocking Jungkook’s name and repeatedly calling BTS ARMY “losers” is something else entirely. I’d be interested to know whether this is the kind of conversation iHeartRadio wants associated with its platform. I’ll be the first to acknowledge that some of the initial conversation surrounding BTS at the iHeartRadio Music Festival was based on information that later turned out to be incomplete or incorrect. I’ve updated my own comments as more information became available. But none of that excuses what happened in this conversation. The Woody Show is affiliated with iHeartRadio…the same company that very publicly promoted BTS appearing at its festival and was clearly excited to have them there. So hearing this kind of contempt directed toward the very fandom that showed up, tuned in, streamed, posted and generated enormous attention around that appearance is incredibly disappointing. You can disagree with ARMY. You can correct ARMY. You can criticize specific things people in this fandom say or do. But ARMY is not a monolith, and disagreement does not require disrespect. Mocking a Korean artist’s name, dismissing him with “whatever the fuck his name is,” telling his fans to “suck it,” and repeatedly reducing millions of people to “losers” did absolutely nothing to strengthen the argument being made. Correct misinformation with information. Make your argument. But if disrespecting the artist and his fans becomes part of making your point, maybe it’s worth asking why you needed it in the first place. #bts #btsarmy #bangtan #bangtansonyeondan #iheartradio
