@scottybrizzle: You might’ve seen this new honey hit the shelves at Woolworths... but here is why you should leave it on the shelf. This brand Fuzzy Bum comes from a large scale operator called Duxton Bees and is facing heavy scrutiny at the moment. Insiders have raised serious claims about hives carrying a tough, treatment resistant strain of Varroa mite being moved across state lines without proper quarantine, allegedly to undermine smaller family operations and secure their prime locations. Varroa is already ravaging hives nationwide and many independent beekeepers are barely hanging on. Ignore Fuzzy Bum’s cute branding and put your dollars toward genuine small Australian beekeepers instead. Shop local farmers markets, roadside stalls, or buy direct from trusted producers online like @savethebeesaustralia at beethecure.com.au Our bees and local producers need real support right now… not corporate shortcuts that risk the whole industry. Boycott Fuzzy Bum, drop a 🐝 below and tag a friend who needs to see this. #bees #australianhoney #honey #reels #shoplocal

You’d want serious proof to be spreading this information or you could face serious litigation.

We have friends that are commercial beekeepers and they supply capilano. We apart of the QBA (Queensland Beekeeping Association) so yes you can buy from them. Do you understand when you have a business that’s your regular supplier of the product you sell doesn’t have any you buy elsewhere. Yes buy from markets. Not all maker sellers are the beekeepers. They can be on sellers. If anyone lives in Brisbane north side and you are Jan powers markets maker Phil and his son the Tebble are beekeepers. They have lost so many hives in this last 6 weeks. Dead hives from varroa. Please support him. His business is called Mount Kilcoy Honey. Also today and tomorrow last day of the Ekka. Please if your at the Ekka buy honey. Most of the people running it is beekeepers. We come together each year to sell honey for the QBA. 🌸

Sadly, small farmers here charge approx $45+ per kg whereas the shops have from $15-30 per kg. I’d prefer to support the local farmers but just can’t afford it.

I haven’t had honey in ages bc I haven’t found a place to get any locally yet, but yeah no bees are already struggling and are so important and they are just causing mass death?? I shouldn’t be surprised, but I’m more surprised that no one who has the power is stopping this. Absolutely disgusting.
