How do you view reading the Bible on your phone? You may have heard people say: “If you use your phone during Bible study or worship instead of reading a physical Bible, you are not respecting God.” But in this age of technology, phones have become an essential part of our daily lives. Many Christians now use their phones to read the Bible. Here are some biblical truths every Christian should know. They may truly bring freedom to your heart. Isaiah 40:8 says: “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” — Isaiah 40:8 (KJV) Moses received God’s words on stone tablets. The apostles wrote God’s words on scrolls. In the early days, many people did not have access to the bound Bibles we have today. What God cares about is not the method or the device you use to read His Word. Whether it is a physical Bible, a digital screen, or even written on stone, the power is not in the object itself, but in the Word of God. Do not let anyone make you feel guilty because you use a Bible app. But remember, this does not mean we can treat our time in God’s Word carelessly. If you open the Bible on your phone, but two minutes later you start replying to messages, scrolling through Instagram, and forget what you just read, the problem is not your phone. The problem is that your heart has been distracted. True meditation requires focus. Psalm 1:2 says: “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” — Psalm 1:2 (KJV) You can read the Bible or listen to sermons on your phone while riding the bus, during a break at work, or while walking down the street. But never forget: your attention belongs to God. Sometimes, in order to hear God’s voice, we need to learn to turn off our phone notifications. No matter what device you use, God’s Word is still God’s Word. But if your phone constantly becomes a source of distraction when you are trying to draw near to God, then you may need to examine what truly has the first place in your heart. If this message touched you, share this video with three people God has placed on your heart. If you want to know God’s Word more deeply and learn how to live according to the teachings of the Lord in your daily life, you are welcome to join our free online Bible study group.
