Emails answered. Laundry done. House tidy. Work finished. Plans followed. Now? Some days I measure success by much smaller things. Did Riley eat? Did he get his naps? Did we get outside for a little while? Did we have a cuddle? Did I remember to eat something myself? Did we make it through another day? Motherhood has completely changed my idea of productivity. Because some days, caring for a baby who needs a little extra from you is a full-time job all by itself. And lately, we’ve had a lot going on. We’re working on catching up with growth. We’re working on milestones. We’re figuring out sleeping with arms out. We’re dealing with what I think might be those first teeth. And we’re still having plenty of night feeds and wake ups. So sometimes the list of things I thought I’d do that day doesn’t happen. And I’ve had to learn that doesn’t mean I’ve failed. It means I spent the day doing what mattered most. Being Riley’s mum. I’ve also realised that I’m much kinder to myself when I remember that I’m not the only one having imperfect days. There are mums everywhere whose houses aren’t tidy. Who haven’t showered yet. Who are surviving on coffee. Who are holding sleeping babies instead of answering emails. Who had a terrible night and are still showing up this morning. Those little lights remind me of that. We’re all doing motherhood differently. But none of us really has it all together. And maybe that’s the comforting part. You don’t have to have a perfect day. You just have to get through your day. One feed. One cuddle. One nappy. One nap. One tiny smile at a time. 💛 #newmom #momlife #postpartum #motherhood #momcommunity
