If you’re using this in your job you would be trained to use it before you actually use it.

This is a Sara steady and should only be used if the person is able to pull them selves up and never moved when the paddles are up

Arkenstone De :
We do not use that belt on the chest. The patient must have been having his or her therapist session and their mobility assessment is at the level where they can stand but can’t walk. Then we use sera steady.

It’s really concerning that this is teaching people how to (incorrectly) use it

If they can’t pull their body weight, what you need is a hoist.no pulling strap needed.

you need 2 people for this equipment you never grab a person the person needs to able to pull themselves up also what if the person loses balance with only one carer helping safeguarding this is

The Sara steady is nice but I wouldn’t trust most of my residents to be able to hold themselves while I position the chair properly

Nicola Roberts Dementia care :
You should not have a strap to pull your client up , if you stand at the side with your flat hand at the bottom of the back and gentle movement is more than enough to assist . You are straining your back leaning over that is not safe .

In the UK the Sara steady is used for the patient to help them stand independently with no assistance we never used a belt or assist

Having to unlock and move closer to wheelchair while expecting them to hold their weight is not safe.
