@world.of.engineer97: #🧠🧠Flow Isolation vs. Flow Balancing 🚰 Why throttling with a gate valve ruins your flow control. Internal geometry determines flow behaviour and pressure loss. To visualize why, I ran a transient CFD simulation using AeroJAX, the framework I am building in JAX, to capture the distinct internal hydraulics of each design. Under identical inlet flow rates (left-to-right): 🔹 Globe Valve (Top): Features a tortuous S-shaped flow path that forces the fluid through controlled directional changes, creating a predictable pressure drop suitable for throttling and precise flow regulation. 🔹 Gate Valve (Bottom): Features a straight-through path designed for minimal resistance when fully open. When misapplied for throttling, the partially closed gate creates a high-velocity jet underneath the wedge, inducing severe downstream turbulence, localized vibration, cavitation risk, and rapid seat erosion. Engineering Rule of Thumb: 🚪 Gate valves ➔ Isolation only (fully open or fully closed) 🎛️ Globe valves ➔ Flow regulation and balancing Same pipe size. Same flow rate. Completely different internal hydraulics. 💡 For piping, MEP, and HVAC engineers: What is the worst valve misapplication or field failure you have seen in practice?

Can we consider the glove valve as isolation valve when try to isolate any equipment??
