The Ashes of Pearl
Where martyrs' blood once warmed the soil,
Now lies a silent, ash-choked field of toil.
Oh, Pearl of the Orient, your skies burn grey,
As youth scroll their fleeting lives away.
They trade our heroes for a mindless trend,
Blind to the scars that carved our land.
They joke where solemn statues stand,
Forget the exile and the firing squad,
Wanting to replace Rizal with Rene Baterbonia as our national hero,
Trading legacy for digital noise.
They forget that treason is our oldest stain,
That brothers sold brothers for foreign gain.
They stabbed Great Luna in churchyard mud,
Cut down Bonifacio in a sea of blood.
It was never just invaders who brought us low,
But Filipinos siding with the foe.
And now this youth takes up the blade,
Siding with those by whom we are betrayed.
Phantom dikes collapse in rotten sludge,
While corrupt lords sit as king and judge.
Stolen billions drown in muddy graves,
While helpless citizens sink beneath the waves.
*Pax Silica* arrives with heavy heel,
Guzzling rivers for foreign steel.
Millions of liters drawn each day,
While fields crack open and dry away.
Look at the wasteland your apathy hath made,
Where forests fall and rivers fade!
Yet hear the call before the final fall—
Wake up, oh youth, break through the thrall!
Know right from wrong, open your eyes to see,
Rise up against the corrupt and set us free!
Protect our homeland, break the tyrant’s chains,
And crown the Pearl of the Orient once again—
Our beloved Philippines!
