The no baby talk thing is so important. I may have made my voice a bit higher pitch, but I never once changed my vocabulary or pronunciation and this 10 year old is knocking words out of the park! He is so clear and communicative!

A woman was walking thru Walmart and pointed to the security cameras while her kids were acting up. She called them “Santa Cams” and said she hoped the elves were not currently monitoring since they could be on break. It was July. Genius.

My dad used to tell us “put it on your Christmas list” if we wanted something. There was no list, but the satisfaction of potentially getting it kept us from begging. I tried using it on my nieces and nephews, but they know about amazon wish lists so it’s not as easy.

Asked my daughter to be her little sister’s “fashion coordinator” which means she picks out her clothes for school the next day so I don’t have to. And my youngest feels cool knowing her big sister picked it out for her and doesn’t argue about what’s picked

I pick up unopened McDonald’s toys at thrift stores, and always keep a happy meal box, McNugget boxes and so on. Sometimes McDonald’s serves chicken and broccoli, sometimes it’s spaghetti. Whatever it takes to get this kid to eat an actual meal. 😅

I have 3 black cats. I told my grandchildren that monsters are afraid of black cats and that my cats know this and watch over us at night. No more monster fears!

I made a cover for Glade air freshener out of hot glue and felt when my daughter was little. I could slide a replacement can into it easily and it convinced her that it was actual monster spray. Worked for YEARS.

I don’t talk to my kid like a baby either. She recently told me my (entirely reasonable) request to for her to help me was “utterly egregious.” She is five. I am not just her mother. I am also her first victim. 😂😂😂
