Jockey pump maintains static pressure, when static is exceeded and can’t be maintained, then the fire pump kicks in and exceeds Jockey pump static pressure…. I’m guessing it’s in either multi level building or structure.

It maintains pressure to the sprinkler system....If that main pump runs the Fire Depart is Coming..Its a full blown alarm..!!.. One head going off is all it takes to overwhelm the jockey pump and set off the main.
