For those unfamiliar with it, it’s not really a dimension, it’s just a "NoState" condition where the server thinks you’re in one dimension while you’re actually in another. Consequently, you load a phantom area based on the packets received from the server before the bug triggered, specifically SubChunks (those large 16x16x16 blocks), which explains the strange terrain generation. In this state, simply disconnecting and reconnecting returns everything to normal.
