This is why I hate when people say headcanoning female characters like Mulan as trans men is anti feminist. Trans men are still oppressed by misogyny so feminism still applies, especially in times and places where transitioning isn’t possible

Transgender people are always erased from history. Trans men and women are always called “cross-dressers” or just gay men (trans women) and lesbians (trans men). Nonbinary people have been stripped from the narrative entirely. :(

there's a book called "The Spirit Bares it's Teeth" about a trans man in the 1800s and it's got this vibe. he isn't able to transition socially, but he's not treated as any less of a man for it. really good book.

People don't talk much about how transitioning has become a privilege for those of us who are not from North America or Europe. Especially if we're in very conservative countries with very aggressive environments regarding these kinds of topics (in my case, Venezuela). Thank you for bringing this.

This is why I HATE people that shame non-passing/feminine trans men, like do you know how many trans men NEVER get the chance to even discover it? how many will NEVER be able to transition even socially? it makes me incredibly sad to think about.

i sometimes think about this in my free time and grieve the people who never got to live their truth (including people who live like this now, myself partially too). it's such a horrible loss, to stay alive without being able to live. it's the reason i hate transmeds so much.

i always think of all the trans men who arent/werent able to transition because of reasons such as these whenever I do my injections… transition can be so miserable that we often forget just how much of a privilege we have that we’re able to even pursue it

I'm surprised to see Japanese people be represented in these kinds of things. I remember suspecting I was a trans man in Japan. Never got the chance to even start socially transitioning because I was already seen as "less than" for being a woman and not being racially Japanese
