The girl is my cousin!! She had a broken femur and broken nose. She had emergency surgery and she is ok now 🩷 she’s a tough girl! I’m so sorry for everyone affected!!

Hey, I got a TBI at as an adult- a couple of tips for your mom - I know they say avoid light and screen screens, audiobooks were a good way for me to stay entertained because my eyes couldn’t read for more than like five minutes without a migraine for a couple months, there’s also a pretty heavy impact on emotions - don’t be surprised if on top of the incredible trauma, your family has experienced, she has a tougher time, regulating and processing for a couple months. My emotions felt like I was 15 again and completely hormonal for the first three months of my postconcussive vibe.

I don’t want to sound insensitive, but I don’t understand why ya’ll play with your lives like that? Lake Powell is known for these sudden storms that are always severe. Sleeping on top of the boat just seems really crazy. I hope your mom is ok and I’m sorry yall lost a lot of stuff. Please rent a cabin on land next time…this story was too sad I can’t imagine the fear hearing them call for each other and not being able to find or see them 🥺

I assume your mother has had scans of her head and back but if not she definitely needs them. And if she’s got ongoing issues it’s probably worth being seen by a Dr again. Sometimes you can have a small bleed in the brain that isn’t visible on initial scans but increases over days and then causes trouble.

Oh im so sorry 😢 I’m sure I didn’t get a concussion nearly as bad as your mom, but I got one last October that lasted months. One of the things that helped me so much was red light therapy! I used my lume box every single day. I don’t know if you have access to one but I would highly recommend it! Praying for fast healing not only physically but also emotionally and mentally for all of you ❤️🩹❤️🩹

I don’t know why, but it always irks me when people act like others don’t care for lives, but somehow a mother cares more. Like literally a compassionate person is going to care regardless of a harrowing situation like this.
