Whenever I kill Ulfric I do two things. Let Tulius kill him and also Soul Trap him right before the killing blow. No Sovengarde, no song, and I get a neat lil necklace I'll throw in a dresser somewhere

I usually ignore the civil war when i replay skyrim. As a child i sided with the stormcloaks because the empire tried to execute me and i kinda fell for their rhetoric. As i grew up i learned more about the world and lore and notably the thalmor. I started to distance myself from the stormcloaks because i paid more attention and realized how racist they were but i didn't like the idea of talos worship being illegal or a nation being forced to be part of an empire they didn't want any part of, but also i wont be part of the empire because they still tried to execute me for no reason and also i wont be allies with the thalmor even on a technicality or even if the empire is gearing up to go to war with them later. I simply just wont be involved because its a game and it doesnt actually matter

Nobody ever plays the damn quests, if you did you would know the first thing Ulfric does upon taking Skyrim is raise an army against the thalmore. He was an unwilling asset who was tortured for info. He hates the thalmore.

Windhelm is a total shithole under his leadership. Far before he started the war. If you really think Skyrim is better off with him as high king that’s hilarious. But that’s why I like this game there really is no perfect choice. Though I think a unified empire is better defense against the thalmor
