@magnumphotos: In 1993, Thomas Dworak left small-town Bavaria for Russia at the age of 20, and discovered the Caucasus region, living in Tbilisi, Georgia until 1998. Enamoured by the cultures and languages he encountered, he spent years photographing a place of extremes, where post-Soviet era conflicts and the devastating Chechen Wars coexisted with his fascination for the region.
