I used to work at a second hand store and I would take calls all the time from people wanting us to come pick up heavy furniture they wanted to donate. Most of these callers were old people who had a spouse or a friend die and they would talk and talk and talk and I knew that as much as I could find it boring sometimes, they were lonely and maybe this was the highlight of their day. Maybe I was the only person they spoke to that day. So I sat down and I listened for as long as I could. Even if it was about an old stamp collection from 1936.
